In the last day or two, Microsoft have announced Student Advantage but what does this mean? In brief, students will be able to install Office 365 Pro Plus on their own PC/Laptop at Home for no additional cost to the user or the school.
If the school are purchasing/subscripted Office for their student through either Office 365 A3/A4, EES, OCS-ES and School contracts in Microsoft Volume Licensing students will be able to install Office 365 Pro Plus.
So what do we mean when we say Office 365 Pro Plus, does it mean I have to have Office 365? Well the simple answer is yes. For students to be able to get Office 365 Pro Plus the education establishment have to have a Office 365 Education tenancy and of course be licensed for Office. Each student must have a username in Office 365 and as part of the install they will be asked to put in their username and password. Yes this does mean you won’t have to give them a product key
Available as on 1st December 2013 students will have access to
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Lync Pro
- Microsoft Publisher
- Microsoft OneNote
- Microsoft Access
So if you haven’t got Office 365 Education yet (why not ) but get subscribed, take advantage of Office 365, SharePoint Online, SkyDrive Pro, Exchange Online, Lync One and now the ability for students to have Office installed on their home PC.
